Moments Intimacy Laughter Kinship

This past weekend Dr. Menlo and I stumbled upon this wonderful outdoor exhibit taking place at the Seattle Center's Fisher Pavilion. The exhibit will be on display through July 8.

"The M.I.L.K. Collection portrays unforgettable images of human life, from its first fragile moments to its last. They tell us that the rich bond that exists between families and friends is universal. Representing many diverse cultures, the compelling and powerful photographs convey feelings experienced by people around the globe. Transcending borders, the M.I.L.K. imagery reaches across continents to celebrate and reveal the heart of humanity."

I was happy to see the exhibit included several nude and natural pictures. Some of my favorites: a picture of an Asian woman breastfeeding her child in the rain forest, a picture of three 80-year-old+ Asian women topless, and a picture of two little girls naked on the beach; one girl standing proud, while the other squats below her, looking up in amazement. As innocent as these pictures were, I knew there would be people who would be outraged that such images were on display, not to mention in such a public venue . . . what about the children I can hear them crow.

Given the state of the world today, such images provide a salve for the wound of life.
